Our party goes to Boston! In December 2009,  iLove: will receive it’s New England regional premiere with The Boston Stage Company.

“A sensual montage of love and being in America today.” - The Cincinnati Enquirer

We made our first appearance with iLove: at the 2007 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. iLove: Satori’s ‘unoriginal, original work’ explored love and sex in the digital age, enjoyed a completely sold-out run, garnered the 2007 Producer’s Pick of the Fringe, and was nominated for the 2007 Cincinnati Entertainment Award (CEA) for Best Alternative Production.

Screening of Young Malkovich Performances. July 1st.

7PM @ The Canoe Social Club.

(Above Theater Off Jackson).

What else are you going to be doing on a Monday night? The folks over at Canoe are going to be watching John Malkovich at his best. Right now True West and Dangerous Liasons are on the list. And there’s been word that they have a copy of Burn This.

Satori usually trains on Wednesday nights. But I’m trying to make the case that seeing Malkovich in a Sam Shepard play counts.

Orange Flower Water. Running Through July 20th.

Wed-Sat 8PM. Sun. 7PM @ ACT.

Orange Flower Water is produced by New Century Theater Company, one of the most inspiring ensembles in Seattle. They premiered last year with Elmer Rice’s The Adding Machine. Orange Flower Water is their second show.

The play takes a candid and complex look at relationships, infidelity, and the ways we hurt one another. The vast experience of their ensemble is unmistakable: The acting and direction is impeccable, while the design is strong and barebones at the same time.

The Dirty Projectors, July 3rd

8PM @ Chop Suey.

The Dirty Projectors have found that balance of being innovative, fun, and truly listenable. In my opinion The Getty Address is a must have. Their track with David Byrne is one of the strongest on Dark was the Night. Spike gave me a copy of their new album Bitte Orca, and I can’t stop listening to it.

The Twilight Zone: LIVE! July 3rd-August 8th

Fridays and Saturdays, 8PM @ Theater Schmeater

This event is exactly what it sounds like. Theater Schmeater brings back one of their most notable series: Live performances of full scripts from The Twilight Zone TV show. They are directed by Theater Schmeater co-founder (and Williams Alum!) Tim Moore.

BLITZ: The Capitol Hill Arts Walk. July 9th

Starting around 6:30PM

BLITZ takes place on the 2nd Thursday of every month. It’s a community-wide showcase featuring local artists in about every medium: visual art, music, literature, and performance art. Over 40 businesses and restaurants throughout the hill open their doors to artists and audiences.

So get out and enjoy. Let’s show Fremont what we got!

CéU. July 14th and 15th

8PM (doors at 6PM) @ the Triple Door

CéU is a Brazilian singer-songwriter with an incredibly soulful voice. Her roots are in Samba and you can hear the influences of Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben, and Caetano Veloso. With the help of DJ Marco she fuses that sound with jazz, afrobeat, electro-pop. Check out her song “Lenda.” If you like what you hear, the Triple Door is the perfect venue for her music.

The Decemberists, Andrew Bird, and Blind Pilot . July 17th

6PM @ the Marymoor Ampitheatre (in Redmond)

The line-up here pretty much sells itself. Especially for people like me who had to miss Sasquatch this year. Let’s hope we don’t miss this concrt too.

Capitol Hill Block Party. July 24th-25th

If this is your first time hearing about the Block Party – where have you been? Right now the lineup includes: Sonic Youth, The Jesus Lizard, The Gossip, Deerhunter, Black Lips, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Thermals, Moondoggies, Hey Marseilles, The Maldives, The Dutchess and The Duke, Starfucker, Past Lives . . . and the list just keeps going. (ED NOTE: SEE JAPANDROIDS SWEET JESUS THEY ARE AMAZING)

Go online and get your tickets – or swing by Rudy’s or an Urban Outfitters.

RZA July 30th

8PM @ Neumos

A perfect way to end the July.

RZA brought out June by dropping Wu-Tang Chamber Music at the end of the month. RZA was looking to create a live feel on this record. Six Wu-Tang members show up on the album, over backing tracks laid down by Brooklyn’s soul crew Revelations.

That’s what RZA released from the studio this summer. Head over to Neumos to see what he does live.
